Miscarriages in early pregnancy can occur due to poor sperm quality because sperm that carries genetic abnormalities may lead to problems with fertilization or embryo development. Sperm quality is determined by factors such as its shape (morphology), motility (movement), and DNA integrity. Poor sperm quality can cause chromosomal abnormalities in the fertilized egg, which may result in early embryo loss. Lifestyle factors such as smoking, alcohol use, environmental toxins, or underlying health conditions can also negatively impact sperm quality and increase the risk of miscarriage.
