Kids risks to Lung Cancer due to Air Pollution
Share
Children are particularly vulnerable to the harmful effects of air pollution, which can increase the risk of developing lung cancer later in life. Exposure to pollutants like PM2.5, nitrogen dioxide, and tobacco smoke during early childhood can damage developing lungs, impair lung function, and trigger respiratory conditions such as asthma. Prolonged exposure to poor air quality raises the risk of chronic respiratory diseases, which can ultimately increase the likelihood of developing lung cancer as children grow older. Reducing exposure by minimizing outdoor activity during high pollution days, using air purifiers, and advocating for cleaner air policies can help protect children’s lung health.
