Drinking tea immediately after meals may interfere with digestion and reduce the body’s ability to absorb important nutrients, especially iron. Tea contains compounds called tannins that can bind with iron from food, making it harder for the body to absorb it properly.

Over time, this habit may contribute to conditions like Iron Deficiency Anemia, particularly in individuals already at risk. Tea consumed right after eating may also cause bloating or acidity in some people. Experts generally recommend waiting at least 30–60 minutes after meals before drinking tea to support better digestion and nutrient absorption.
