Feeling cold during chemotherapy is a common experience due to several factors. Chemotherapy can affect blood circulation, causing blood vessels to constrict and reducing blood flow to the extremities, which makes the body feel cold. Additionally, chemotherapy weakens the immune system, making the body more susceptible to temperature fluctuations and infections, leading to chills. Some chemotherapy drugs directly induce cold sensitivity or chills as side effects. Furthermore, chemotherapy can cause fatigue and a lowered metabolism, which may impair the body’s ability to regulate temperature. To stay comfortable, patients are advised to wear warm clothing and consult their healthcare provider for guidance.
