Type 5 Diabetes is not a medically recognized condition in mainstream healthcare. However, it is sometimes used informally to refer to a type of diabetes that combines elements of both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, also called Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults (LADA).

LADA is a slow-progressing form of diabetes that often initially appears similar to Type 2, but it involves an autoimmune response, where the body’s immune system attacks the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas, similar to Type 1 diabetes. People with LADA may still produce some insulin but not enough to maintain normal blood sugar levels.

LADA typically develops in adulthood, and it can often go undiagnosed for years. Treatment usually includes insulin therapy, lifestyle changes, and careful monitoring of blood glucose levels. If you suspect you have LADA or an unusual form of diabetes, it’s important to consult a healthcare professional for proper diagnosis and treatment.
