International Women’s Day Run in Delhi
There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.” – Michelle Obama
The world has come a long way in terms of gender equality. Historically, women had to fight for their fundamental rights including the right to vote. There were societal restrictions on what women could do, where they could go and what they could wear.
Today, however, times have changed significantly and women have taken space in all areas of life. There is no subset called a male-dominated field. In the 21st century, women walk side by side and match shoulders with the opposite gender. Now it is time to run!
The CK Birla Hospital presents the International Women’s Day Run on 5th March 2022. An initiative to celebrate the spirit of womanhood and their health.
About International Women’s Day
Women’s Day is observed on 8th March every year, worldwide. This day is celebrated since 1911 after the first-ever gathering took place in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is a global day where different organisations and communities come together to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
This day is also marked to recognise the present-day struggles of women and rally awareness about gender equality.
Each year, the United Nations (UN), an intergovernmental organisation working for international peace and harmony, decides on a theme for International Women’s Day.
This year the theme is to attain “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow” marked by #BreakTheBias. The objective of this year’s theme is to acknowledge different types of biases and stereotypes women face in all aspects of life and pledge to resolve them for a better and sustainable future for all.
