What is Walking Pneumonia?
Share
Walking pneumonia is a milder form of pneumonia that affects the lungs but doesn’t cause severe symptoms, allowing individuals to remain active despite being sick. It is commonly caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae bacteria and spreads through respiratory droplets. Symptoms develop gradually and may include a persistent dry cough, mild fever, sore throat, headache, and fatigue—often mistaken for a common cold. While usually not serious, untreated cases can lead to complications, especially in young children, older adults, or those with weakened immunity. Treatment typically involves rest, fluids, and, in some cases, antibiotics. Early diagnosis helps prevent worsening symptoms and further spread.
