Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune condition where the body’s immune system attacks and destroys insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. This results in a lack of insulin, a hormone essential for regulating blood sugar levels, leading to high blood sugar (hyperglycemia). Symptoms include frequent urination, excessive thirst, unexplained weight loss, and fatigue. The cause is unknown but is thought to involve genetic and environmental factors. Individuals with Type 1 diabetes must manage the condition through insulin therapy, either via injections or a pump, alongside a balanced diet, exercise, and regular blood sugar monitoring to prevent complications. There is no cure yet.
