Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease
Share
Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) is a common viral illness that primarily affects young children but can also occur in adults. It’s caused by enteroviruses, most commonly the coxsackievirus. Symptoms include fever, sore throat, and a rash with small, painful blisters on the hands, feet, and inside the mouth. HFMD spreads through close contact, respiratory droplets, and contaminated surfaces. While the illness is usually mild, good hygiene practices, like regular handwashing and disinfecting surfaces, are key to preventing its spread.
