Decompensated liver cirrhosis is a severe stage of liver disease where the liver’s ability to function properly is significantly impaired due to extensive scarring. Symptoms include ascites (fluid buildup in the abdomen), jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), gastrointestinal bleeding (due to varices), hepatic encephalopathy (brain dysfunction caused by toxins), and fatigue. This condition is life-threatening and requires immediate medical attention. Treatment focuses on managing complications, such as controlling fluid retention, preventing bleeding, and improving liver function. In some cases, a liver transplant may be necessary. Early diagnosis and intervention are crucial for better outcomes.
