The CK Birla Group has set-up the CK Birla Hospital with the aim of creating a healthcare system for women in India, which has a professional and transparent approach and lays emphasis on providing world-class service with warmth, responsiveness and sensitivity. Through the hospital’s state-of-the-art facilities, we endeavour to provide women access to clinical care of international standards.
The vision for this hospital was based on my family’s and my personal passion for quality healthcare especially for women and the experiences we’ve had with respect to healthcare around the world. We have engaged a panel of international clinicians who have helped us design this hospital both conceptually and physically- from layouts and floorplans to processes and protocols as well as discussing latest healthcare trends and best in class practices. We have adopted policies and protocols from the NHS in the UK and adapted them to the Indian environment. We’ve set up a very comprehensive clinical governance process to enhance our own performance.

It is our belief that change will be brought about through the recruitment of clinical leads from across the world, protocols that address all areas of hospital activity from the choice of treatment down to hand hygiene procedures, and the introduction of leadership development and performance management systems. This, complemented by technology enabling real-time team communication and seamless collaboration, will ensure accuracy and the highest levels of service.
We believe strongly in partnering with our patients in clinical decision making. Rather than being attended to by a single caregiver, our patients are assigned a Care team with specialists from different disciplines. This multi-skilled collaborative approach allows for well-rounded advice and treatment.
We also lay strong emphasis on nursing care. With the support of a NHS led midwifery team we provide nursing care that excels.
Why Gurgaon as a starter. Are you specifically targeting metros here?
Gurugram has seen rapid growth and urbanisation over the last decade and is a leading industrial hub. Through our hospital in Gurgaon, we also cater to neighbouring areas in the Delhi NCR region. We have plans to establish more hospitals under this chain in the years to come.
Challenges
Healthcare in India is one of the fastest growing sectors in terms of interest, investments and employment. With a largely ‘aware’ customer base exposed to a convergence of services, willingness to explore alternatives in a highly regulated and compliance-based industry, the focus and the action in the sector is significant in both the public and private categories. What specialities will CK Birla Hospital provide to patients and how will it be a differentiator?
The CK Birla Hospital offers comprehensive care across its core clinical areas of obstetrics and gynaecology, neonatology and paediatrics, advanced surgical sciences (including cancer, laparoscopic, gastrointestinal, bariatric, breast, head and neck surgery), fertility, fetal medicine, critical care and anaesthesia and diagnostics. The hospital also offers a full range of specialties in-house and on-call including cardiology, endocrinology, urology, dermatology and cosmetology.
To achieve outstanding clinical outcomes, the hospital has partnered with well respected institutions and practitioners around the world to establish international best practices. Our state-of-the-art facilities will enable women to access exceptional clinical care, delivered within an ethical, compassionate and patient-led environment. The hospital, spread over 78,000 sq. ft., is a 70-bed facility with ICUs, a 15-bed level 3 NICU, 5 operating theatres, 38 spacious patient rooms and suites with all amenities, outpatient rooms, advanced labour and recovery rooms, state-of-the-art diagnostics, an advanced IVF unit with a modular egg collection theatre, andrology lab, IVF lab, IUI/embryo transfer facility and a cryo store. The clinical facilities include 24×7 diagnostics, pathology and radiology with an outpatient pharmacy and doorstep delivery of all pharmacy products. The critical care team includes 24×7 anaesthetists, intensivists as well as neonatologists who provide cover for the adult and neonatal ICU.
