Causes of low Blood pressure during pregnancy

Share

During pregnancy the flow of blood increases in the body for proper supply of oxygen and food nutrients to reach the foetus, as a result the body’s blood pressure decreases. This becomes a major cause of low blood pressure or hypotension in a majority of pregnant women.

Here are a few steps to ease the symptoms of low blood pressure:

  • Lie on your left side as it increases the flow of blood to your heart.
  • Avoid sudden movements, particularly when standing up from a seated position.
  • Consume several small meals during the day instead of large meals.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Drink plenty of fluids.
