What are some of the early signs of pregnancy?

  • A missed period: This is a sure shot indication with women who have regular cycles. Those with irregular cycles, or those who use any type of contraception may not notice a missed period.
  • Morning sickness & fatigue: Nausea or vomiting may come and go throughout the day during the initial stages of pregnancy.
  • Food cravings and/or aversions: This is directly linked with morning sickness.
  • Frequent urination: Pregnancy leads to added pressure on the urinary bladder increasing frequency of urination.
  • Increase in breast size and soreness in breasts: This is primarily due to the sudden increase and change in pregnancy hormone levels.

  • In a reproductive age of 35 years or older
  • Underweight or overweight at the time of pregnancy
  • Expecting twins, triplets, or other multiple pregnancies
  • Diagnosed with comorbidities like high blood pressure, diabetes or depression
  • Experiencing multiple miscarriages

A high-risk pregnancy requires a hands-on team of healthcare providers and an experienced OB-GYN to manage and control the various pregnancy symptoms that may surface during the entire term.
  • Prepare your womb: Take up lamaze and yoga classes to ensure your muscles are prepared and relaxed to be able to handle the delivery without excessive pain.
  • Follow your Doctor’s advice: There can be specific peculiarities in a pregnancy which has to be assessed by your doctor to arrive at a perfectly suited plan for you. Follow their advice to avoid unnecessary complications.
  • Try for normal delivery: If your condition allows for a normal delivery, opt for it rather than depending on pain medications. This is helpful for you and your baby.
  • Pick the right healthcare partner: Make sure you are surrounded by a team that is on the same page as you regarding your pregnancy. Hands-on compassionate care helps keep the anxiety at bay.

How helpful is Water Birthing?

  • Labour pain in water is a far less painful experience due to the significant and natural release of endorphins or happy hormones. Women feel more relaxed and the duration of labour is also reduced.
  • The soothing gentleness and warmth of the water helps naturally enhance oxytocin levels in the body making it very effective to manage the contractions.
  • The blood circulation in the body is boosted providing better oxygenation to the uterine muscles, ensuring reduced pain for the mother and higher oxygen supply to the baby.
